Episode Summary

Reach out to someone in your community today. It’s your social responsibility.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Someone once said that “The health of a civilization depends on how its society treats the elderly, the newborn, the unborn, people with disabilities, the poor, and those who are homeless.” And, you know, that’s true. Just take a look at the book of Exodus—when God tells His people about their social responsibility. In chapter 22, He says, “Do not mistreat an alien or oppress a foreigner. Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless.” Because if you do, your nation will not prosper. Oh friend, whether the Old or New Testament, we are to reach out to the marginalized. God’s people have a responsibility to show mercy to those in need. So today, invite your elderly neighbor to dinner; help a disabled woman with housework; serve the homeless, give to the poor. And this Sunday at church, say hello to the child with Down syndrome. It’s part of your social responsibility.
