Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I will never forget when I discovered a lump in my breast and immediately had a mammogram. The radiologist said to me, "You have a large suspicious mass with irregular edges." I knew that was an important moment, so I repeated her words out loud to make certain I understood her. And after that, I drew a deep breath and said, "I want to move quickly on this; what steps should I take next?" Looking back, I'm amazed at how calm I was. But being a quadriplegic who has dealt with medical emergencies all my life, I knew enough not to allow myself to fall apart emotionally. This news was a game-changer, and I wanted to rally all my senses to fight for my life. It’s what happens when we follow the prescription of 1 Peter 5:7 where it says, “Cast all your anxieties on him because he cares for you.” And that’s great advice today if you just heard scary news from the doctor.
