If you are in a season of affliction, keep singing no matter how dark your night is!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. As a quadriplegic dealing with chronic pain, sleeping is sometimes tough. But on sleepless nights [when the pain is bad], I remember to pray – I believe when I worship God and intercede during a season of pain, my prayers are more powerful, given that they are being voiced from an “altar of affliction.” I also sing songs in the night [when all is dark, hymns and Scripture songs are such a comfort to my soul]. I remember one morning after a really hard night [my hip pain was excruciating], I received a special note from my friend Lacie that said, “By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life [Psalm 42:8].” Just what I needed to remember that, indeed, songs and prayer bring rest to my soul when my body is troubled. So, friend, if you are in a season of affliction, keep singing no matter how dark your “night!”
