Today, ask the Lord to rule your heart, and then your heart will be set toward his Word.
Hi! I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Do you like to schedule a regular quiet time with God in the morning? And if so, does it ever go like this? You head toward your Bible, but then quickly decide to check your Facebook to see what your friends have posted, then you glance through a couple of clothing catalogs on the kitchen table, oh, and then you forgot you had breakfast on the stove! Before you know it, twenty minutes have slipped away and you’ve yet to open your Bible! If that’s you, friend, you’re not alone. Life is full of distractions, and none of us wants to rush communing with God. It’s why Psalm 119 is a great prayer: “Lord Jesus, turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.” Yep, even checking Facebook or flipping through catalogs can, at times, be selfish gain. So today, ask the Lord to rule your heart, and then your heart will be set toward his Word.
