Ask God to open your eyes to the community around you to practice Christ’s love.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Diana was a “working” homeless person. This elderly woman would put in hours at a local fast-food restaurant, then, every few days she’d shower at a nearby Methodist church, and sometimes with her earnings, Diana would get a good night’s sleep at a Motel 6. Well, one day my friend Cathy picked up lunch at the fast-food place Diana worked at, and after learning she was homeless, Cathy’s heart was moved. She thought of Isaiah 58:6-7 where God says, “Is not the fasting I have chosen...to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter?” A few phone calls later, and Cathy and her husband found this homeless woman a room to rent. Friend, you and I encounter all sorts of people in our communities – just like Diana. May God open our eyes as you practice a little bit of Christ’s love with this needy world!
