No matter how deep you’re sinking, a simple cry for help is all it takes—Jesus is right there, ready to grab hold and save you. Your problems are the Lord’s opportunities.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Matthew 14 records Peter getting out of a boat and walking on a stormy sea toward Jesus. But verse 30 says, “When he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’” Immediately, Jesus reached out and grabbed Peter. Maybe it would have been a good idea if Peter had prayed before he embarked on his risky adventure. But even so, it’s good to know that his cry for help was not too late. It is never too late to pray. Especially in sinking times. Also, please observe that short prayers are long enough. Peter gasped out just three little words, but they sufficed [when there is an emergency, it may be best to be brief, right]. Finally, remember that your problems are the Lord’s opportunities. When we can do nothing, Jesus can do everything. So, if you are drowning in a desperate struggle, cry out – your deliverer is right there.
