Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. One night after the accident in which I became paralyzed, things got as dark as dark could be. In that hospital, the reality of my quadriplegia was beginning to sink in and I became depressed. But remaining in depression was almost as awful as the prospect of permanent paralysis! And so, that night I looked up at the hospital ceiling from my bed and I prayed, "Oh God, if I can't die, please show me how to live." Slowly, over the next few weeks, I felt something stir in my heart. It was a slight flicker of hope, as well as a faint peace and even a hint of joy in my heart. I didn’t realize it then, but I was experiencing Romans 15:13 where it says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him…” Today, friend, if you are struggling, trust in him. For when you do, you will experience not a faint peace and joy, but a full peace and joy in Jesus Christ.
