Are you feeling weary? Remind your heart that you are Christ’s, and that soon you will rest from your afflictions.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I will confess, sometimes I get so tired. I’m so weary of battling sin. Tired of dealing with disability routines and pain. But when I become shortsighted about my goal as a Christian, I reach for this favorite quote from an old Puritan. Richard Baxter wrote, “Take your heart once again and lead it by the hand. Show [your heart] the kingdom of Christ and the glory of it. Say to your heart, ‘all this will [the] Lord bestow upon you. This is your inheritance. This crown is yours. These pleasures are yours. These beauties are yours. All things are yours, because you are Christ’s, and Christ is yours’ … So, hold out a little longer, O my soul, and bear with the infirmities of your earthly tabernacle for soon you shall rest from all your afflictions.” Friend, soon I’m going to rest, and I hope those words are encouraging, especially if you are feeling weary today.
