A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Sin is Always Sin

Episode Summary

Don’t try to house-break certain sins – it will rip you apart.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Back in college, I recall two friends – both Christians – who had a very interesting arrangement. They purposed to only gossip with each other. They didn’t have loose tongues with their other friends – they knew that would be a bad witness – so, they gossiped only in private, and only with each other over lunch or in between classes. So often, we Christians try to house-break certain sins as though we can get control over them, never believing that in so doing, the sin gets control over us. Bishop J.C. Ryle wrote, “Sin, in its beginnings, seems harmless enough…You and I may give wickedness smooth-sounding names, but we cannot alter its nature and character in the sight of God.” My two college buddies? They aren’t friends anymore, and it’s no wonder. Don’t try to domesticate sin, because sin will always be sin – it will rip you apart.
