God’s grace works slowly in your life, and it is a progressive, lifelong work. It takes a lifetime to learn how to hate sin and love your Savior, Jesus Christ, so take heart!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Cindy gave me a jade plant in a clay pot that Ken and I placed on our patio, and for the longest time, it didn’t seem to grow. Then I looked, and oh, my goodness, I was stunned. There was this thick, large jade plant, and I said to Ken, “When did that happen?!” But that’s how it is with change. We hardly notice it, day by day, but in the course of time, we’re amazed at “oh, how that rosebush has grown” or “oh, how big this hydrangea bush has gotten!” And so it is with God’s grace in our lives. When God works in us, it is a progressive, lifelong work, and grace works slowly, so do not be deterred. When the Gospel is planted in your life, it takes a while before Christ becomes your all in all. So, yes, I’ve still got a long way to go, because it takes a lifetime to learn how to hate sin and love your Savior, Jesus Christ.
