Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Psalm 138:8 says in the King James, “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.” Wow, I resonate with this verse because there are a lot of things that concern me. But God is in all those concerns; and he is using them to perfect me. Now sitting in this wheelchair, I know I have a long way to go, but already I can smile inwardly at what God is doing: I already have quiet contentment in my quadriplegia, and a bright hope of my future life in heaven. I can already put aside almost all questions and doubts. And already, I can see how taking up my cross leads me to my crown in heaven. These are all evidences of the perfecting work of God through the hardships in my life. Yes, afflictions – especially new and hard ones – will always concern me, but the Lord will perfect me through them. And I trust that today he’ll do the same for you.
