Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when Bill and Gladys met as kids, they had no idea that one day they would be celebrating 50 years of marriage. And never did they think that a disability like Alzheimer’s would one day touch their lives. You see, Gladys has Alzheimer’s, and can no longer do things like brush her teeth or feed herself. But her husband? Bill says, “I am determined to care for her every need; God has loved us so unconditionally and because I realize how much God has loved me, that’s the way I want to love my beautiful wife.” Oh my goodness, friend, this is love! The reason Bill can shower compassionate care on Gladys is because it stems from the greatest love of all – the love of God. And the love of God is this – while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Wow! That should speak to you and me, because whether you have a disability, or you are a caregiver, husband, whatever – there’s a God in heaven who has given his all for you.
