Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And my friend Suzanne was born without a kidney and as a child, she spent many days in the hospital. To keep her spirits high, she would plan a party from her hospital bed. Not a birthday party—no, simply a party to celebrate that wonderful day she’d be back home. She said, “Joni, it was the planning of it that kept my joy humming. And eventually, I celebrated that party with my sisters and friends with cookie-cutter PB&J sandwiches, balloons and games. And now, decades later through kidney failure, two transplants, rejection episodes and many sick months in bed, I still find joy in planning parties.” Suzanne celebrates even while her health continues to decline; because someday she will be back home—her real home, in heaven! And she’ll celebrate with her wonderful Savior! So, follow Suzanne’s lead; hold fast to joy when faced with troubles.
