Today, thank the Lord for the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit and let him take a scrub brush to those sins. Be happy for the help of the Spirit!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And in my early days of being in the hospital, I remember my mother at the foot of my bed with a small scrub brush and soap. She was scrubbing the soles of my dirty feet. Active teenager that I was, my feet were grimy and calloused with dirt on the souls. Thing was, before I was paralyzed, I never bothered to look at the bottoms of my feet. But after my mother pointed out the grime that needed to be removed; I was happy for her help. And in a way, this is the point behind Psalm 19 where it says, "Forgive my hidden faults [O Lord] ... may they not rule over me." Friend, we need to look, so to speak, at the bottoms of our spiritual feet – at the secret faults we forget are there. Today, thank the Lord for the scrutiny of the Holy Spirit and let him take a scrub brush to those sins. Be happy for the help of the Spirit in removing any grime on your soul that needs to be cleansed and done away with.
