Episode Summary

If your future looks overwhelming, take life one morning at a time, asking God for his grace.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and when doctors told me I would remain a quadriplegic for the rest of my life, I mean, I just looked at them blankly. The terrifying reality of hands and legs that would not work just bounced off my brain. After many months, though, reality began to sink in, and that’s when depression hit. I anxiously wondered, “Oh no! Will I end up in a nursing home? Will I ever be able to hold down a job?” But then I read in the Bible where it says, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.” And that became my way of living. I could not face an impossible future, but because of God’s compassion I could face the morning. Hey, friend, if your future looks impossible, don’t let your trials consume you. Do what I did: take life one day at a time, in bite-sized chunks. Life, one morning at a time. It’s the best way to step into your future.
