A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Stony Heart

Episode Summary

Do you have a heart of flesh or stone?

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My husband Ken and I are reading through the Bible in a year, and recently we were in Ezekiel. When we got to chapter 36, verse 26, it got us talking. God says, “I will give you a heart of flesh.” Not a heart of stone, but flesh. So, what does that mean? Well, a heart of flesh is sensitive when it comes to sin – it’ll grieve over its offenses against the Lord, whereas a heart of stone feels nothing. A heart of stone is unyielding to the will of God, hard as a rock. But a heart of flesh? It delights to be molded into the image of Jesus. A stony heart just doesn’t get it when people exuberantly worship the Lord; but a heart of flesh says, “Oh, Jesus, I love you; and please help me love you more!” If you are in need of an encouraging word today in the midst of your hardship, I sure do hope you found these words helpful. And so, share them with a friend, would you? You can always share this program at joniradio.org.
