If you’re feeling sorrowful, you can find strength in the word of God.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And over the weekend I received a poignant email from a fellow quadriplegic. His name is Eric and he’s been battling a very serious infection, plus he deals daily with chronic pain. I had to sigh when he wrote, "Joni, on some days I just cry in the shower." I sat silent for a long moment, because as a quadriplegic, I identify. I’ve often turned my face up to the shower head and let the water cover my tears. Or maybe I thought I was hiding them, or even washing them away, like "Cleanse me, O God, and wash away not only my sin, but my sorrow." Well, if you feel this way, listen to Psalm 119:28 where it says, “My soul is weary with sorrow; so strengthen me according to your Word.” Oh friend, if you’re feeling sorrowful, you can find strength in the word of God. It’s a promise from your Savior. Hearts full of sorrow always find strength in the name of the Lord.
