God’s Word takes note of every sleepless night you toss and turn; but the Holy Spirit is a reminder that joy does indeed come in the morning.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and there are some nights when, well, it’s just hard to get to sleep. Maybe it’s pain in my neck and I lie there longing for the morning. “Oh, when will the sun come up?!” Ever felt that way? Well, you’ve got a friend in the book of Psalms. David wrote in Psalm 130, “My soul waits for the Lord more than the watchman for the morning.” Got that? I mean, those watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem they were earnest; just like you when you can’t sleep. And what I love about Psalm 130 is that it gives voice to your anguish and mine as we wait for the first light of dawn. More than that, we wait for the Lord more. Friend, the Bible understands. God knows us. His Word takes note of every sleepless night you toss and turn. But the Holy Spirit is reminding you today that joy does, indeed, come in the morning. So, wait on the Lord, friend. Sunup is just around the corner.
