Just like Nehemiah’s team, you have a God-given assignment to build up the body of Christ by encouraging and uplifting those around you.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. In the second chapter of Nehemiah, the prophet goes out to inspect the walls of Jerusalem. The city walls had been broken down, and its gates had been destroyed by fire. And so, Nehemiah told the city officials he wanted to rebuild the wall, to which they replied, “Let’s start building!” [What a great attitude!] And you know, these men lost no time. They got right to work. The priests went to work on the sheep gate. Men from Jericho built the adjoining section. The fish gate was built by the sons of Hassenaah. And so on and so on. That was teamwork! Friend, like these men, each of us has an assignment from God to build up the church, that is the body of Christ, your brothers and sisters in the Lord. So, when it comes to your family and Christian friends, start building, start edifying, and uplifting and encouraging them in the Lord. Let’s start building.
