Even the hardest trials are wrapped in God’s hands, giving you every reason to thank Him for everything.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, Paul tells us in Ephesians 5, to give “thanks to the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” I have really wrestled with that word “everything!” But the Bible means everything. We’re not to only give thanks for the good stuff, but for the hurtful, crushing, heart-breaking, out-of-control things, as well. How can we possibly do that? Well, listen, the command begins with giving thanks to the Father and ends with the name of Jesus. So, all the events of our lives are book-ended by the Father and the Son. Everything that touches us comes from His hand. Every painful thing in your life is bracketed by God the Father and God the Son. He sees [right now] how the tears, and bruises, setbacks, and sorrows of this life are working for the glory of His name and for your benefit. And that, friend, is good enough reason to give thanks every day.
