Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Do you recall the story in the Bible when Jesus fed the 5,000? It says Jesus was moved with compassion when he saw the hungry crowd. These people came from miles away; I mean you would’ve thought they would’ve packed a knapsack of a lunch, or at least brought some money to buy some food, right? What were they thinking? Jesus could have told them, “Look, you people you got yourself into this mess – you can get yourself out of it.” But he didn’t. And even when the disciples told him to “send them away!” Jesus’s heart still went out to those hungry people. And he’s asking you to do the same. To show mercy and grace to that man who became brain-injured from drug abuse, to reach out to the teenager who ended up paralyzed from his reckless driving. To not say, “It’s your problem, you deal with it.” But no, show compassion – no matter who made the messy bed and now must lie in it.
