Next time you see someone in need, please give a helping hand because it’s the Christ-like thing to do.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And my friend David is a quadriplegic who lives with very little. His wife left him after his car accident and he survives on government benefits, living alone in a little apartment. Once I asked David who helped feed him dinner and he said: “You know, I just wheel myself over to Pizza Hut and somehow, God always provides a person to help. Sometimes it’s a waiter on break, and other times, I don’t know, it’s a stranger having dinner who offers to assist me.” Wow, David really lives on the edge, doesn’t he? Friend listening, God loves to provide help through others. In 1 Kings 17, the Bible tells of the widow who was visited by Elijah. She was like David; she didn’t have much—but it was through the help of Elijah, a stranger, that God nourished and provided for that poor widow. The lesson? Next time you see someone in need, please give a helping hand. It is the Christ-like thing to do.
