Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when life’s troubles come your way, your thoughts become somber and your hope dims—you feel as though you’re in the dark. Well, friends, this is how Forest from Uganda felt. He felt disabled, without family or friends, sleeping on a straw mat and living in a dark shed with no light. Forest was physically—and emotionally—in the dark. It’s why our Joni and Friends interns shared with Forest this verse from 2 Samuel 22. There David says, “You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.” And with that verse, the interns kindly gifted Forest with a lantern to light up his home. Now, Forest doesn’t have to live in the darkness, because he has received the gift of light— physical light and the light of Jesus that turned his world around.
