If you want to remain content in the Lord no matter what the circumstance, memorizing Job’s words in the Bible is a good place to start.
Hi! I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The Apostle Paul said in his letter to the Philippians that he had “learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” But how do we know that we’ve learned the secret of contentment? I think the litmus test of contentment is when you’re prepared to lose what you have. Despite Job’s agony, he declared in the 13th chapter, “Though God slay me, I will hope in him.” Job staked everything on the character of God. He believed that God had supplied him all he needed and even if God would take it away—and plenty he took—Job would remain faithful. So, if, if tomorrow, God were to take away your health, your job, even a family member, would you hold onto hope? Memorizing Job’s words is a good place to start. Though he slay me, I will hope in him. I say it every day from this wheelchair, and I hope you can join me, no matter what your circumstances.
