There are no shortcuts! Keep growing in Christ and you’ll learn to be more patient in your obedience in Him.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. During Ken’s college days, he decided to stay awake for an entire 24 hours to prepare for finals. It meant taking a super caffeinated pill that promised to keep him awake and alert. Well, for 24 hours, that, he was. But a day later, when he went to take his first final, Ken could not string his thoughts together. Everything on his test paper looked disjointed and unfamiliar. And guess what? He flunked the exam. Needless to say, Ken quit taking caffeine pills. That day he realized there are no short cuts when it comes to preparing for a test. And isn’t it true when it comes to growing in Christ? The human heart is forever looking for the shortcut, while the Spirit keeps leading us down the long, rigorous path of tough obedience. It’s why Galatians 5 says, “Keep in step with the Spirit,” and don’t even think about taking a shortcut.
