Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And there aren’t many places on my body I can actually feel and that's a fact. I can feel only from my neck up—and maybe a little bit on the tops of my shoulders. It’s why, I think you can understand, to me, a kiss—like a kiss from my husband or when a really good friend greets me with a kiss on the cheek—it means everything! I think about this whenever I read the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15. You know, where the father runs to meet his wayward son and kisses him? This was the son that rebelled, he was the “black sheep” of the family; he didn’t deserve such a greeting from his father and neither do we. If anything, we should be receiving a slap from God, right?! But instead, he embraces us, giving us his Son to suffer for our sake. Oh friend, don’t take the Lord’s embrace for granted—it’s one of love and grace, and it should mean everything to you!
