God will get rid of suffering soon enough. Your job is to get out there and tell people about Jesus while there’s still time!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I got into quite a discussion with my friend Susan the other day. Susan is just stuck, wondering about the goodness of God and so much pain in the world. “Why doesn’t God just get rid of all the suffering right now?” she asked insistently. Well, as I explained, suffering gets its start in sin – it’s just part of the ‘package’ of living in a fallen world that has ignored God. So if God were to get rid of all suffering, he’d have to get rid of all sin. And if he did that, a lot of sinners would be burnt toast in a nano-second. So I told Susan, I thank God that he is delaying closing the curtain on suffering and sin – because it gives more time for us to tell people who ignore God about the grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Friend don’t get stuck like Susan. God will get rid of suffering soon enough. Your job? Get out there and tell people about Jesus while there’s time!
