Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. One day, Zeke was in the water at the beach and began to feel his chest tighten. When he saw black spots, he staggered to the shore gasping for air. The lifeguard quickly dialed 911 and when paramedics arrived, they administered a drug to relax Zeke’s airways. He was amazed at the difference it made. And although he did not realize that he had asthma at the time, he was stunned that this medication had such power. You know, you will love the power of medicine, only if you know the deadly power of the disease that it is holding back. And it’s Christians who understand the deadly power of sin, who truly appreciate the power of the Gospel. The Gospel demands that we be amazed at the difference Christ has made. After all, Ephesians 2, says that although we were dead in our sins, God has given us life through Christ. That is both stunning and amazing!
