Life is in the power of the tongue. Offer life-giving words to someone today!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I do my best to be a good wife, even with my quadriplegic limitations. I may not be able to whip up an omelet for my husband or clean out the sink, but I can uplift my husband with life-giving words of encouragement. I might say, “Ken, thank you for visiting our neighbor who’s got cancer! I mean, that was so thoughtful of you.” Or I might say, “Ken, I’m so grateful that you’re a man of prayer – I love the way you always take the lead and invite people to pray!” Now, I’m not sweet-talking or flattering my husband. I’m not saying this stuff to manipulate or get my way. Rather, I am declaring the good that I see in Ken’s character. And I am reinforcing that character with good words. Proverbs 18 says that life is in the power of the tongue. So, friend, let’s grow the character of others by offering life-giving words. And do it today!
