Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. For years, Deborah declined invitations to our Joni and Friends Family Retreat because of Dion’s severe disability. After all, most people just didn’t have the patience— or the willingness— to watch after Dion. But last summer, Deborah finally decided to give it a try. At camp, Dion’s volunteer was Theodora, and she attended to many needs with a Galatians 5 attitude; she served Dion and Deborah with the love of Jesus. What’s more, Theodora had so much fun watching over Dion, that at the end of the retreat, she thanked Deborah for giving her the privilege of serving her son. Deborah was amazed.
