As you serve the Lord, focus on your eternal home and the wedding feast of the Lamb to come.
Hi, I’m Joni, and recently my friend Michelle shared with me a memory of a conversation she had with her father the day before he died. He had expressed how sad he felt that he would not be able to walk her down the aisle. But Michelle’s response? She said, “Oh, Daddy, please don’t worry about my wedding [day]. There’s nothing to miss about my earthly wedding. My dress [is going to] fade and become torn. My wedding photos will yellow with age. My body will grow old and turn to dust. But [Daddy,] everything in heaven will last forever, and I will meet you [there,] at the real wedding on the other side!” Wow. What a thoughtful, selfless thing to say to her dying father. Michelle has the perspective that Hebrews 11 speaks of, and we should, too. As we serve the Lord, let’s keep focusing on our eternal home and that real wedding to come.
