A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

The Second We Leave Earth

Episode Summary

Angels cannot wait for your arrival to the celestial gates.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when my friend, Hal Riddle, was living, he yearned for the day he would go to heaven. As he lived his last days with cancer, he held on to Ecclesiastes 7, where it says: “The day you die is better than the day you were born.” It’s not an easy verse to grasp but let me share with you what I read in a sympathy card. It said, “Heaven enjoys a maternity ward reaction to funerals. Angels watch burials in the same way grandparents monitor delivery room doors. They cannot wait to see the new arrival.” Can you imagine that? The second we leave Earth; that same instant, happy friends and loved ones are reaching out to welcome us in through the celestial gates. Ah, that thought really encourages me—and I hope you, too. And if you need encouragement, we’d like to pray for you. Just share your prayer requests at joniandfriends.org.
