A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

The Transfiguration

Episode Summary

The greater glory of Jesus always attracts, always draws people near.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Remember when Moses stayed 40 days on Mount Sinai? He experienced a kind of Transfiguration up there, so that when he came down off the mountain, his face was shining. God’s people could not bear to look at the glory on the face of Moses, and so he had to wear a veil. I thought about this when I was reading Mark 9 recently, because there, when Jesus came down from the mountain after his Transfiguration [get this], the 15th verse states, “As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.” The glory of Jesus was far greater than that of Moses and yet people were not blinded; no, rather they happily ran toward the Lord. It just goes to show – the glory of God’s law may repel, but the greater glory of Jesus always attracts, always draws people near. Those are encouraging words today from Mark 9:15.
