Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Sungchil Park is a quadriplegic like me. Sungchil often has to stay in bed healing pressure sores, but she uses her time in bed wisely – Sungchil memorizes Scripture. In fact, to date, she has memorized 4,000 verses from the Word of God, most of them from the Book of Psalms! Sungchil is big on memorizing verses because she knows that with all her complications, she needs to keep her heart set on Jesus to keep hopelessness away. Psalm 37 says that when “the law of God is in [our] hearts; [our] feet do not slip.” Well, as a quadriplegic, Sungchil’s feet obviously don’t slip; and neither does her soul. Friend, if you are treading on slippery terrain, don’t walk barefoot! Put on the sandals of the Gospel and memorize God’s Word. To get you started, here’s Psalm 37 once more: “The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.”
