Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and early on after I broke my neck in that diving accident, I learned that when accidents happen, it’s okay to call them accidents – even the Bible does. When babies die, when whole populations starve, and when young girls break their necks? These are terrible things. But the Bible insists on another truth simultaneously. When these things happen – when there are famines, birth deformities, bad medical reports, devastating tornadoes, God hasn’t taken his hands off the wheel for a nanosecond. His plans are being accomplished despite – and even through – these accidents. Yes they are tragedies. And he considers them so because he takes no delight in misery.
