Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And my friend, Mark, lives in the mountains of Colorado. He claims to know Christ as his Savior, but Mark doesn’t like to attend church. As he will explain it, “My church is the mountains beyond my backyard.” But is that so? God never intends for us to be spiritual hermits or mavericks. We are not Lone Ranger Christians. When we follow Christ, he places us in his spiritual body; that is, with other believers. We are supposed to live out the realities of our faith in spiritual community. After all, that’s where the real growing happens; in the church, it’s a ‘push comes to shove’ togetherness, whether we like it or not. Plus, the writer of Hebrews says, “… Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other...” Thinking of skipping church this Sunday? Well, the book of Hebrews tells you to think twice.
