Listen to what Ephesians 6:1 says – “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and last summer, Dianne was taking photos at one of our Family Retreats. She was wading ankle-deep in the lake snapping pictures when she heard two young girls talking. They were on a small raft in the middle of the designated swimming area. Dianne told me that one of the girls [who was looking at the water], turned to the other girl, and said: “I really want to dive in the lake, but I know Joni’s story.” And the other girl replied, “Yeah, I know it, too.” They then continued their playing without diving in! Oh, I laughed when I heard this, but I’m glad they thought twice. I hope my diving accident does caution boys and girls around the water. When parents tell their children to be careful around a pool or a lake, I respect that. Its why Ephesians 6:1 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” And when around water, it’s also the safest thing to do.
