When you’re at your lowest, cry out to God and he will bring you up to shore, giving you fresh life.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I was a kid, I remember learning the story of Jonah from the Bible, and I remember thinking, that’s impossible; how anyone could live – I mean really live – for three whole days inside a whale. Down, down Jonah went, down to the sea, down into the water, into the whale, down into his belly, in even the deepest part of his belly, lying there with seaweed wrapped around him. Maybe there have been times when you have felt like Jonah. In the middle of a painful trial, you think, I’m going down. Oh God, I cannot live this way, it’s impossible. But then, like Jonah, when you are at your lowest, from the depths of your heart, you give up and cry out in distress. And like Jonah, God will then bring you up to shore, up, up, giving you fresh life. So take courage. The God who raises the dead is the same God who can raise you up out of your deadly circumstances.
