When you walk in God’s ways, your wishes are no longer for earthly things – everything else takes a back seat to a life fulfilled in Christ.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And back when I was new to this thing called quadriplegia, on many a bright and starry night, I would wish upon a star, asking God to “please, please, Lord Jesus, give me back use of my body.” And I know you’ve done that, too – maybe not wished upon a star, but you have desperately hoped, and you’ve prayed, and you’ve begged for that new home, a steady job, for your aching back to heal. And it’s why I want to share with you John 15 that says, “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” Friend, when you do that – when God’s words fill your life and you walk in his ways – your wishes, well, they are no longer for earthly things. The big home and the ability to walk take second seat to a life fulfilled in Christ. So, next time you go wish upon a star, please remember your bright and morning star – Jesus Christ himself.
