Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. As a father of a child with autism, Paul was used to people being standoffish with his son. But when he came to our Family Retreat, he found a spiritual band of brothers: other dads of kids with disabilities who really “got it.” Paul said, “You know, hanging out with other dads was great. These men haven’t left their families—they’re hanging in there. They’re keeping their head in the game.” In short, Paul found strength in numbers, and in the same way, we are created for community. Deuteronomy 32 says that one man can chase a thousand, but two men can put ten thousand to flight. And in Ecclesiastes it says that two are better than one, for they can help each other succeed. If you are a parent or caregiver of a child with a disability, surround yourself with people who really “get it.” Then visit joniradio.org and learn about our Family Retreats.
