A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Underneath the Kitchen Sink

Episode Summary

When you disobey, the one who suffers most isn’t us – it’s God.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. As a father, Robert had warned his little boy to stay away from containers underneath the kitchen sink. But one day Robert found his child pale and unconscious, on the kitchen floor. His child had pried the lid off a bottle of insecticide. And as a result, Robert’s son suffered a permanent impairment. This boy cannot possibly understand the consequences, but Robert will always carry the pain of his son's disobedience. It’s a heartbreaking story, but it’s a picture of our relationship with God. Because of our disobedience, we’ve suffered a permanent impairment: we’re sinners. And we’ll never understand the depth of Christ’s suffering when he went to the cross, bearing the pain of our waywardness. When we disobey, the one who suffers most is not us—it’s God. So today, join me in honoring the sacrifice of our Savior; let’s honor him by obeying him at every turn.
