Your words have the power to shape souls—so use them to affirm, encourage, and breathe life into those around you.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Words have power. And I think that’s why the Apostle Paul took so much care in his letters to the churches. Just look at his greeting to the church in Philippi, where Paul encourages them saying, “He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” And, he also said, “I know that through your prayers and God’s provision, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.” In other words, he was saying, Well-done guys! Keep up the good work! Your prayers really make a difference! Friend, when you affirm the Christ-like character in others, you are partnering with God's Spirit in shaping that person’s soul. I do this with my husband, Ken, all the time. I look for some small character trait that is worthy, and I water it with words of affirmation. And you can do it, too. Today, bless your child, spouse, or coworker with uplifting words.
