Don’t let bitterness take root—trust God daily and let His promises grow true peace in your heart.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I remember my early days as a quadriplegic: I was out of the hospital, but I was still battling depression and anger. Over time, that anger developed into bitterness—a deep, rooted bitterness that made me miserable. But then I read in Hebrews 12 where it says: “Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you and corrupt many.” Yikes! That’s when I told myself, Ok Joni, push aside the Kleenex, grit your teeth, and start trusting God one day at a time. Friend, perhaps you are dealing with feelings of sadness or frustration. If so, take God’s word of advice and do not let bitterness poison your heart. Delve into Scripture so that God’s promises will uproot anger and grow true peace in your heart. And remember, our Response team at Joni and Friends is here to help and pray, so contact us at joniradio.org.
