Episode Summary

When you use God's word, you’re praying in his will.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I love praying with scripture. Whenever I pray about my needs or the problems of others, I always try to use the Bible as a foundation for my prayers. Take Proverbs 15. There it says, “Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred.” So, yes, a friend might ask you to pray that his boss will give him a raise, and that may be fine. But it’s also good to pray: “Lord, financial blessing for my friend isn’t the focus; your Word says that love should be the focus. So besides that raise, I'm asking you that my financially strapped friend would learn how to ‘live on little’ if it means leaning harder on you.” Do you see what I mean? So, next time you receive a prayer request, go to your concordance, pick a verse that’s applicable, and pray God’s Word in and through your intercession. When you use God's word, you’ll be sure to be praying in his will.
