The next time you pass by cemeteries, let them be a reminder to recite encouraging passages like 1 Thessalonians.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The other day, on our way driving to LAX airport, we passed by the big military cemetery next to the 101 freeway near UCLA. As we sped by, I murmured that verse, “And the dead in Christ will rise.” I say it every time – I mean, every time I pass by a cemetery anywhere. It’s a habit I cultivated many years ago. Because when I see tombstones, they are a vivid reminder of that wonderful portion of Scripture from 1 Thessalonians 4 where it says that “… The dead in Christ will rise first… after that, we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air… Therefore encourage each other with these words.” Hey, friend, I challenge you to look at tombstones and cemeteries the same way – let them be a reminder for you to recite one of the most encouraging passages in all of Scripture from 1 Thessalonians 4.
