Wear a smile. You may never know who will ask what the reason is behind that smile, and you can tell them – it’s Jesus.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I’d like to ask, how much of a difference does a smile make? One day while shopping for makeup, an Iranian woman at the cosmetics counter kept watching me out of the corner of her eye. Finally, she came up, leaned on the counter, looked at me straight in the eye, and said, “You look so happy. Tell me, why are you so happy?” Well, I didn’t know if it was because I was in a wheelchair smiling, or if it was the way I smiled while testing lipstick colors, but for some reason, that day my smile caught that woman’s attention. And it gave me the opportunity to share with her the promise of Luke 2. There the angel said he was bringing good news that would cause “great joy for all people.” News of a Savior. So, join me, will you, wearing a smile? Because you never know when someone will want to know the reason for your smile — and you can tell them it’s all because of Jesus Christ.
