Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And in Daniel 5:27, King Belshazzar saw a cryptic message handwritten on the wall of his banquet room. When he asked Daniel what it meant, God’s prophet replied, “You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.” It begs the question, where are wefound wanting? To find out, look to Jesus and ask yourself if you are conformed to his likeness. Strive to see if you have his meekness, or humility, and gracious spirit. Do you often feel self-abasement? Do we, like Paul, consider ourselves “the chief of sinners” and least of all saints? Can we say with him “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain?” Today, let’s ask God to bring us there. May we feel our need of God, and a need of genuine faith, a warmer zeal, and a more fervent love. Together let’s cry out, “Please, Lord, if I’m weighed on your scales, may you never find me wanting.”
