Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When my husband Ken and I traveled to Cuba with our Wheels for the Worldteam, we met 14-year-old Isis. She had brittle bone disease, and her rusty, old, adult-sized wheelchair with flat tires desperately needed to be replaced. So, our team got her seated in a really cute, shiny, turquoise junior-sized wheelchair, and Isis was elated. And when I gave her her very first copy of the Bible in Spanish and I asked her to read the part in the book of James about welcoming trials as friends – well, that’s all it took. Isis began reading aloud not only that verse, but the entire first chapter of James! And everyone – from wheelchair mechanics to the Cuban families waiting – they stopped to listen to Isis read. Oh, friend, God is glorified when we do disability ministry like this. So, what are you waiting for? Come on over to joniandfriends.org and learn more about Wheels for the World.
