Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Tim Chambers is a remarkable artist that I met years ago and his paintings are stunning. But here’s the thing: Tim has Usher Syndrome, a disease that steadily and slowly takes away your sight and your hearing. I think it’s astounding – and Tim does too – that God should give him such an extraordinary talent; yet also give him a debilitating disease that will eventually take away his ability to create such beautiful works of art. But Tim says the disease has helped him learn to rest his identity in Christ, not on a canvas. Friend, that is a spirit yielded to God. Galatians 2 says, “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who lives, but Christ, who lives in me.” In what do you rest your identity? Is it in a classroom? The stock exchange? On the football field? Before you call yourself anything else – remember, you’re a follower of Jesus.
