If you come clean with God, telling him who you really are, God will use you here, and honor you up there.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And remember the story of Jacob? The brother of Esau who lied to steal his brother’s blessing? Well, fast forward years later, and there in the middle of the night is Jacob, wrestling with God. Jacob says to the angel of the Lord, “I will not let you go unless you bless me!” And then, right in the middle of a half-nelson, the angel says, “What is your name?” [as if he didn’t know]. And Jacob cries out his answer, “I am Jacob!” In other words, “Lord, I’m a deceiver, I’m a double-minded cheat. That’s who I am!” And that’s all God wanted to hear, for with that, Jacob received the blessing. So, what’s the moral of this story? If you come clean with God and acknowledge the depths of your weakness and sin, telling him who you know you really are, God will use you here, and honor you up there. He did it with Jacob, and he will surely do it with you.
